Description

Located south of the center of Linn County, Mound City is its county seat. It was first called Sugar Mound due to its proximity to a mound by the same name, situated to the east. Mound City was immersed in the Kansas-Missouri Border War as pro-slavery men and abolitionists fought for control of the territory.

Mound City History

Arrington Kansas was sometimes called Arrington Springs because of mineral springs discovered in 1881. There is not much left of the town today due to declining population.
